The Streets of Bournemouth website is the result of a partnership between Bournemouth Borough Council and Bournemouth University. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), it provides a virtual museum for the Bournemouth community.

Without the generous funding from HLF, this project would not have been possible. Supplementary funding was also provided by the South West Lifelong Learning Network.

The project was developed with the help of over 140 volunteers, whose contribution was invaluable. We are grateful for their commitment and input.

We would like to thank the following organisations and individuals for their help in providing the 7,500 images found on this site:

  • Catherine Beer
  • Fraser Donachie
  • Professor Vincent May
  • Terry Tuck
  • Phyllis Webb
Special Thanks

The partnership staff at Bournemouth Borough Council, Bournemouth University, Bournemouth Libraries and the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum made extensive contributions, enabling the successful delivery of the project. The Advisory Board, the Steering Group and the Content Group provided advice and guidance.

The Daily Echo, Bournemouth, provided media sponsorship and ongoing support.

Hillview Primary School staff, pupils and parents contributed generously to the schools learning material and we are particularly grateful to Cher Jones and Sean Watts.
